Some guys the same age as you may perhaps like to play golf during the weekend while others may only watch TV and drink a lot of beers while doing that. If you want to be unique though while keeping in touch with the child in you, it would be fun to spend the weekend building your own little train sets. Your male buddies may chide you for not coming along with them but this is indeed one of the best ways that you can have quality time with your son. Constructing train sets actually help in developing certain positive traits that you wish to see in your son.
You must not pick just any type of train sets that are normally sold cheap in the market. Because creating these is one of the best times that you spend with your son, it would be better to choose those that are personal favorites such as the HO train sets. These may seem like tiny toys, items that you not want to be caught playing with by your officemates.
But the fact that you play with it with your son happens to make it a significant thing. While you attach each part of your train to another you also get to enjoy the time you spend with your son.
It's nice to create huge HO train sets if you really like to spend the entire weekend with your son. For you to do this, you may need to find a spare room in the house. This is where you can build the train sets with your son without any disturbance from anyone else in the family. If you try to build these in the living room, you would not have a grand time doing this. Remember, it is a weekend and some of your kids or even your wife may have guests too.
As much as you can, free the workplace from any other unnecessary items. You may have to use the floor of the spare room if your HO train sets are really very big.
it would be a great help if you place a bright colored rug or a white one on the floor where you will be working. This allows you to easily find parts that have been misplaced. Of course, you are also going to need a good amount of lighting so that you can work on the train sets more easily.
The best thing to do would be to plan the construction with your son before you start it. You can have him assigned on the simpler parts to ready him for taking over the harder ones later. While working, find time to observe how your son gets on with his part and prod him on with suggestions for him to do well in his part. When you notice his improvements, make it a point to appreciate it. The end-product should be something you and your son can be proud of.
